Uganda Part 7
From Bwindi Impenetrable via Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mutanda
The trip from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Lake Mutanda leads us through the southwestern part of Uganda. We start off winding through the dense, misty forests of Bwindi, home to the famous mountain gorillas we encountered the day before. And as we leave the park, the landscape opens up to rolling hills and terraced farmland, typical of the region.

From Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable via Lake Bunyonyi
The day starts with an extensive breakfast. Then we pack our things in the car and drive into the national park again in search of the tree climbing lions of Ishasha. We drive almost 4 hours through the park and several times off all the striking trees on which the lions can usually be seen. Unfortunately without success. Nevertheless, we find fresh traces near a tree and we suspect that the lions are actually in the dense thicket. We wait for a while and then around noon we have to set off. 6 long hours are in front of us for only 200 km. That says a lot about our path today. And although we did not see the tree climbing lions, we had other nice encounters during our trip through Ishasha.

Fort – Portal to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Kasenyi Safari Camp
The distance between Fort Portal and Kasenyi Safari Camp is approximately 90 kilometers, and the estimated travel time is around 2-3 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.
The drive takes again through rural areas, small towns, and picturesque landscapes. We see traditional Ugandan villages, farms, and cattle grazing in the fields.

Murchison to Kibale – Chimpanzee Tracking
In the morning after the breakfast we start from Murchison Fall National Park, and travel south towards the town of Masindi. The road gradually starts to climb as we approach the escarpment, with stunning views of the Rift Valley spreading out before us. We pass through numerous small towns and villages, with locals going about their daily lives. The road wind its way up the steep escarpment, with sharp drops on one side and towering cliffs on the other.The journey continues through a sea of different shades of green as we drive through the wide tea fields. It has something incredibly calming.
Uganda Part 3
LIRA – MURCHISON FALLS NATIONALPARK
The drive from Lira to Murchison Falls National Park takes us through the beautiful Ugandan countryside. The distance we have to cover today is about 200 km and we expect to drive for at least 4 – 5 hours. As we leave Lira, we pass through small towns and villages, where we can catch again a glimpse of local life and culture. The road is generally in good condition, but there may be some rough patches, so it’s advisable to have a 4WD vehicle.
Uganda Part 2
The journey from Jinja to Sipi Falls in Uganda takes us through some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the country. Starting from Jinja, we drive eastward through Mbale town towards the town of Kapchorwa. Along the way, we pass through several small towns and villages, where we can catch glimpses of rural Ugandan life. We also see vast greenery of sugarcane and banana plantations that stretch out to the horizon.
Uganda Part 1
The trip to Uganda was a very spontaneous decision. Corona and the associated restrictions made the choice of the destination a little more difficult. We were also worried that problems with the return flight could occur if the incidence was too high.
Therefore, we spontaneously booked via Klüger Reisen. One thing in advance: From our point of view, Klüger Reisen is fully recommended.
